Terms of service
Last updated 2026-08-27
These are pre-launch terms. SolidCookie is a working product that is set up by hand for each customer; there is no self-serve signup yet. When that changes, these terms will be replaced, and existing customers will be told before it happens.
1. What the service is
SolidCookie provides a cookie consent banner delivered by a script tag, a store of the consent decisions that banner collects, a scanner that reports what a website actually sets, and hosted cookie and privacy policy pages generated from a questionnaire.
It does not provide legal advice. The banner asks properly and the records hold up, but whether your website as a whole complies with the law depends on what your website does, and that is yours to know.
2. Price
€9 per site per month, after a 14-day free trial. A site is one domain with its www and any subdomains registered to it. Prices exclude VAT where it applies. See pricing.
3. Your responsibilities
- Put the tag first in
<head>. A tag placed after a tracker renders a banner that cannot block what it claims to control, and we cannot fix that from our side. - Keep your registered domain list current. Consent records are only accepted from registered domains, so a site that moves without telling us records nothing.
- Answer the policy questionnaire truthfully. The generated policy is only as accurate as the answers.
- Do not use the service to collect consent for anything unlawful.
4. Availability
We run the service carefully and keep it up, but we do not promise a specific uptime. The embed is designed so that if our service is unreachable, your website still works — the banner may not appear, but nothing breaks.
5. Data
For the consent records your website writes through us, you are the controller and we are your processor. How we handle that data, and who else handles it, is set out in the privacy policy and the sub-processors list. Those pages form part of these terms.
6. Ending the service
You can stop at any time by removing the tag and telling us. Your consent records stay available for the retention period you set, so you can still produce them, and are then deleted. We can end the service with 30 days’ notice, or immediately if it is being used unlawfully.
7. Liability
To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to the fees you paid in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect losses, or for regulatory penalties that arise from what your website does.
8. Law
These terms are governed by the law of Ireland, and the Irish courts have jurisdiction. Questions: [email protected].
